Asseco Solidária embodies the spirit of brotherhood within the company
The main goal of Asseco Solidária is to help those in need through a series of initiatives that seek to involve the majority of the company's employees. In 2022, Team Solidário remained active, implementing several social responsibility projects in the three locations where we are present: Portugal, Angola, and Mozambique.
Time, through volunteer work, and goodwill are the two main ingredients that make Asseco Solidária possible. This is an initiative without borders that we are happy to share in an overview of the activities developed over the past 12 months. Technology is not the most important thing here. The key is to promote human dignity and help those in need.
In Angola, Team Solidário delivered essential goods to the BJC Shelter Center, an institution that supports the elderly and children with HIV. A similar action took place in Mozambique where essential goods were delivered to the Casa da Alegria Orphanage in Maputo. In Madeira, we delivered 30 sleeping bags to the local Centro de Apoio aos Sem Abrigo (CASA). Also in Funchal, we continue to provide regular support to a vulnerable family affected by the floods two years ago, providing a monthly shopping basket, medicine, clothing, and now dental insurance.
The war in Ukraine and the social drama in a martyred country have ignited a new front for humanitarian aid. Back in March, shortly after the Russian invasion began, we collected food that was delivered to the Campo Grande Parish in Lisbon, in a joint action with the Alvalade Parish Council and the Ukrainian community of Lisbon.
In Madeira, Asseco PST and its employees have also participated in this support movement, in collaboration with the Funchal City Hall and the Sousa Group - Logislink. Several containers were delivered and shipped to Ukraine in cooperation with the Association of Ukrainians in Portugal (AUP). Through the sale of raffle tickets in April, we raised enough money to send medicines, compresses, bandages, adhesives, and other medical supplies to Ukraine through AUP.
In a different kind of initiative, we participated in a solidarity action with ENTRAJUDA in February. Our mission? Collect oranges in the gardens of the Palace of Queluz. The oranges were distributed by the Food Bank to several social institutions in Sintra. This year we have also participated in several volunteer activities to prepare the distribution of solidarity baskets to be delivered by the Donated Goods Bank to social solidarity institutions supported by ENTRAJUDA.
While maintaining our partnership with Make-A-Wish, collaborating on the sale of Christmas stars and Advent calendars, in November - as is already tradition - we delivered 90 polar blankets and 60 sleeping bags to three institutions that work with homeless people: Legião da Boa Vontade (LBV), CASA, and Comunidade Vida e Paz.
More than ever, Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights should echo deep within each one of us: "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood."
The collaboration of everyone remains fundamental!
