Lisbon hosts Asseco Group international conference on banking innovation
Lisbon this year played host to the Asseco Group’s international conference, which brought together dozens of journalists from across Europe alongside various experts from the group. The event, held at a hotel in the Portuguese capital, explored the challenges and trends facing the financial sector, with a focus on the role of technology as a key driver of competitiveness and banking success in uncertain and challenging times.
Held annually in a different location, the Asseco Group Product Review 2025 centred on the theme “Leading Through Change: Financial Innovation for Challenging Times”. The event primarily targeted media professionals, serving as a showcase for some of the most compelling projects developed by Asseco within the financial industry.
With Asseco PST acting as host, the company’s CEO, Daniel Araújo, welcomed participants. On the occasion, the Portuguese leader emphasised the importance of leading change in highly competitive environments, highlighting the value of the technological solutions developed across the group to support digital transformation in the financial sector.
One of the initial topics focused on Asseco Group’s distinctive federated organisational model, in contrast to most multinational corporations. This federated approach allows each company considerable operational freedom and autonomy, with leaders highlighting that it enables them to act closer to clients, respond more rapidly to change, and develop innovations tailored to local needs.
As they stressed, freedom within the federation also comes with responsibility, and its true strength lies in its people – over 34,000 Asseco specialists worldwide.
Panels and presentations featured contributions from Adam Góral, Chairman of Asseco Poland and founder of Asseco Group; Jozef Klein, Chairman of Asseco Central Europe; and Piotr Jelenski, Chairman of ASEE (Asseco South Eastern Europe). From Asseco PST, Board Member José Nunes delivered a presentation titled “Above Cards. Into the Future of Payments”.
Topics discussed throughout the day included banking innovation, the evolution of digital channels, services for small and medium-sized enterprises, and opportunities in global markets. The role of artificial intelligence and chatbots in customer service, the future of finance in everyday life, and the security of technological innovations were also highlighted.
