GUARDiON: new security solution ready to tackle external threats, internal fraud and governance gaps

Asseco PST has developed a security technology solution for IBM i systems, aimed at providing continuous protection for one of the most critical platforms in core banking. Named GUARDiON+, the solution is built on the Precisely Assure Security suite and was recently unveiled in Luanda at an event focused on banking security and digital resilience.

The GUARDiON+ launch was attended by senior representatives from most banks operating in Angola, officials from the Banco Nacional de Angola (BNA), and leading data centre operators.

GUARDiON+ ensures high, continuous levels of IBM i system protection and is fully scalable. It aligns with regulatory requirements, streamlines operational management, and significantly boosts financial institutions’ resilience. The solution addresses not only external threats but also internal fraud and governance gaps through control mechanisms, role segregation, and detailed traceability.

Delivered as a managed service (Security-as-a-Service), GUARDiON+ allows financial institutions to focus on their core business. In this model, software licences remain the property of Asseco PST, eliminating the need for direct client purchase. The technology is offered exclusively alongside the GUARDiONˣ managed services, ensuring specialised, optimised, and consistent management of implemented functionalities. This approach guarantees that the solution is handled by experts, with optimised configurations, continuous updates, and centralised operation.

Strategic benefits for clients span four areas:

  • Regulatory – compliance with DORA, GDPR, and ISO 27001 standards.
  • Operational – regular monitoring, privilege management, MFA, and role segregation.
  • Financial – reduced risk of costly incidents, lower audit costs, and measurable ROI.
  • Governance – shared responsibility and full visibility over security events.
